VIDA / VGP tests
The USCG requires all vessels entering the USA and discharging effluents in their waters to conduct periodical (annual or bi-annual) sampling and analyses in accordance with the EPA program for monitoring. Analyses have to be reported annually into the EPA database. We can do initial tests or take care of the whole monitoring.
VGP sampling and analyses include:
- Ballast water
- Grey water
- Bilge water
- Scrubber wash-water
Drinking water monitoring
Regulations for drinking water are a jungle. Ship sanitation requires at least once a year samples to be analysed.
Following samples shall be taken for micro-biological analyses:
- From the potable water tank
- From the tap farthest from potable water tank
- From medical areas
- If cold water temp > 25 Celcius or hot water below 50 Celcius, additional legionella analyses is required
We have developed a set of analyses covering the whole spectrum. If required, further analyses can be conducted.

Consultancy and disputes
From 2007 onwards, we have tested many different types of Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) for R&D and Type Approval. You can rely on our in-depth knowledge of water treatment systems, analytical methods, and statistical sound evidence and the shipping industry in particular.
For specialised vessels and uncommon situations, we have developed practical solutions to safe both, your money and our aquatic environment. All in mutual consultation with flag state and the respective classification society.
As we know our way in the very complex legislation of ballast water, we could help many shipowners so far. Do not hesitate to contact us.
